Rules for maintaining the treatment waiting list

The rules for maintaining the waiting list for treatment are based on Regulation No. 46 “Requirements for the Availability of Health Care Services and Maintaining the waiting List for Health Care” adopted by the Ministry of Social Affairs on 21 August 2008.

The queue of the Spordimeditsiini SA  is maintained in the health information system Perearst2.

The queue is registered by the administrator, doctor or nurse:

  • At the reception of the Spordimeditsiini SA;
  • by phone or e-mail at the reception.

Registration of the patient in the treatment queue is guaranteed at the reception of the Spordimeditsiini SA and by phone or e-mail on all working days between 9.00 and 17.00. The Spordimeditsiini SA is obliged to register applications for the treatment queue during this period upon the first application, regardless of the length of the waiting list and other circumstances.

Upon registration of a patient in the waiting list, the following information shall be entered in the waiting list:

  • the patient’s first and last name, personal identification code or, in the absence thereof, the date of birth;
  • for young athletes up to the age of 19, the number of training hours per week, the sport and the sports club;
  • planned reception time;
  • the indication for the provision of the planned health care service (diagnosis, name of the examination or procedure);
  • patient contact details (contact telephone and e-mail address);
  • the date the patient was enrolled in the waiting list;
  • the date and reason for making changes in the treatment queue (moving the queue forwards or backwards or removing them from the treatment queue);
  • the code of the reason for placing the waiting list for treatment if the waiting period exceeds the maximum length of the waiting list approved by
  • the supervisory board of the Estonian Health Insurance Fund;
  • an indication that the patient has been informed of any change in the treatment schedule.

Upon registration of a patient in the waiting list shall be issued a written notice to the patient at the registry of the Spordimeditsiini SA, which shall include the time of provision of health care and the name and telephone number of the health care provider.

If a patient is registered in the treatment queue by telephone or e-mail from the Registry of the Spordimeditsiini SA, the patient shall be notified by telephone or e-mail of the time of provision of health care and the name and telephone number of the health care professional.

If the Spordimeditsiini SA changes the order of treatment, the patient is obliged to notify the patient of the changes no later than within one working day as of the making of the changes.

If the waiting list is longer than six months, the Spordimeditsiini SA is obliged to inform the patient of the time and place of the service one month before the provision of the healthcare.

The rules for maintaining the treatment queue of the Spordimeditsiini SA are reviewed once a year and, if necessary, changes are made to improve the availability of services.
